I remember when Elmo’s World became a regular segment on Sesame Street. It was huge for my family. I actually enjoyed sitting down with my two year old daughter and watching Elmo learn about something new every segment. We became fans of Mr. Noodle, and Mr. Noodle, and my daughter just had to have a goldfish like Elmo’s. We were in love with Elmo. My daughter is now much older, and it’s my niece who is the right age for Elmo toys. Her third birthday was a few weeks ago, and I decided that I’d annoy my sister and become the favorite aunt by purchasing the Elmo Live toy that had just come out. I read some Elmo Live reviews online, and I thought it was the perfect gift idea.
I was in the kitchen when my niece opened the doll in the living room, and I could hear her shrieking from that far away. She ignored the rest of her toys until her mother promised that she’d put batteries into the Elmo toy immediately. Aimee opened the rest of her toys but kept her eye on her mother and the Elmo doll as much as she could. Once the toys were finally finished, she snagged the Elmo toy and hadn’t let go of it when I left the house two hours later.
This Elmo is amazing. He looks like he could be used on the actual television show! He moves around extremely lifelike, and has a huge smile and the same voice that I remember from so many years ago. My sister, however, did not hate me, but actually loves me even more, because Aimee plays with Elmo whenever she needs someone to play with, letting her mom get a little bit of peace and quiet. I almost wish my daughter were still young enough to love Elmo, for I’d get this toy for us as well!
