I don’t live near my grandchildren. They live in Maine, and I’m in Illinois, which makes it hard for me. I mean, I want to spoil them for their birthdays and for Christmas, but it is difficult to know what they enjoy playing with. After all, they grow so fast, and they’re in and out of the toy trends faster than they are clothing sizes. My granddaughter’s second birthday was coming up, and I had no idea what to buy her. I started looking around online and heard a lot about the Elmo Live doll. Most of the Elmo Live reviews were really positive, and so I figured I’d give it a shot. I am infinitely glad that I did.
I packaged the doll up and sent it to my granddaughter, just in time for her birthday. My daughter called me and had me listen while she opened it up. Even before they got the batteries in the toy, my granddaughter was squealing. She loved the Elmo and didn’t want to let him go to allow my daughter to put the batteries in!
When they got the batteries into him I heard him say his first few words, and then the laughter began, both Elmo’s and my granddaughter’s! It almost melted my heart to hear her laughing and giggling along with the toy. Then Elmo immediately launched into a story, and my daughter sent me pictures of my granddaughter sitting on the kitchen floor listening to Elmo as he told her a tall tale. I don’t often get to reach favorite grandmother status, simply because I’m so far away, but this birthday I was definitely the favorite grandmother! My daughter says that my granddaughter still plays with the toy every day, and I’m very glad that I took the time to read the reviews and took a chance on Elmo!
