My son loves video games. It seems kind of ridiculous to think that he’s only 4 and he loves video games, but he does! He and my husband sit down on the couch every night and spend at least two hours playing (or watching in my son’s case) the video game system every night. This just seemed unhealthy to me. I mean, I want my son to be able to play with regular toys, and was trying almost everything I could think of to engage him in regular toys. Nothing was working.
I read a lot of Elmo Live reviews that talked about how interactive Elmo was this round, and I thought that maybe it would be a good halfway type of toy to get that would ease him off of video games a bit. I knew he needed to play with a variety of toys, and I really thought this might be the right answer. I bought it and brought it home when my son was in preschool. I got Elmo opened up and got the batteries in and, I’m ashamed to say, sat down with Elmo for at least 45 minutes on the kitchen floor. I could say that I did it just to figure out how he worked, but he’s so easy to run that it would be a very large lie.
My son came home and found Elmo and immediately fell in love. He figured out how to work him quickly and listened intently when Elmo told him a story. He jumped up when Elmo said to, and sat back down when Elmo said to. That night I caught him crossing his legs just like Elmo does! He has fallen in love with the toy and, for once, would rather spend time playing with Elmo than playing on the video game system! Thanks designers!
